LOS SÍMBOLOS EN LAS BOTAS DE VINO

Antiguamente, los bodegueros hacían estas marcas con tiza en las botas porque los vinos se clasificaban según su envejecimiento y era una forma sencilla de controlar su evolución. Un método que ayudaba a no perder el control de tantas botas en épocas de mucho consumo, sobre todo por los ingleses en el siglo XIX que era nuestro principal mercado. Una vez señaladas las botas con el tipo de vino, también escribían los litros que dejaban dentro cuando sacaban el vino para embotellar. Los bodegueros usaban una medida, era la arroba y una arroba equivale a 16,66 litros por lo que si la bota contenía 500 litros, tenía 30 arrobas.
